The Elusive Dream of “Fast, Free, and, Frictionless”: Why Seamless Client Device Onboarding is Still Difficult After All These Years

Wi-Fi is nearing its 30th birthday. We are rolling out the seventh major generation of Wi-Fi technology. Practical data throughput speeds have increased by over 1000 times in that interval. So why are there still challenges to get client devices online seamlessly? Some of these challenges are technical, though many of them are economic. This talk shall review the several pathways for seamless client device onboarding, along with the advantages and difficulties inherent with each.
