In real Wi-Fi deployments, a wide 80, 160 or 320 MHz channel may be partially impacted by interference or unavailable subchannels. The Wi-Fi 7 Preamble Puncturing allows an EHT transmission to exclude selected non-primary 20 MHz subchannels.
This presentation covers how puncturing works, how it is signaled, the constraints behind valid puncturing patterns, and what gains can realistically be expected for channel planning, airtime efficiency and capacity.
