Stop Testing the Internet to Measure Your Wi-Fi | PRG 26

It's tempting to reach for an internet speed test to measure your Wi-Fi network - it's quick and familiar. I helped build Speedtest as VP of Engineering at Ookla - it's great at saturating a pipe to your ISP.

The problem with using it for Wi-Fi evaluation is that you're measuring everything between your device and some internet server miles away - your ISP, peering agreements, upstream congestion and all. None of that tells you anything about your wireless network.

In this session, I'll show how to easily measure device-to-device (or should I say, Orb to Orb) across your Wi-Fi network, cutting the variables you don't care about out of the equation entirely.
