Wi-Fi 7 Technology in Action and a Peek into Wi-Fi 8 Deep Dive | PRG 25
Deep Dives
Prague Czech Republic 2025Instructor: Dr. Srikanth Subramanian
Duration: 2 half-days
IEEE 802.11be-based Wi-Fi 7 is now well on its way to deployment, with various products announced in the market. This session explores how these products are implementing features like Multi-Link Operation (MLO), higher MCS levels, and preamble puncturing — using real-life equipment and the latest devices.
We’ll examine the performance impact of these features under different conditions, sharing results from Wi-Fi 7 APs and clients in both single-user and multi-user scenarios, including with legacy stations. Equipment from Alethea Communications will be used for all experiments.
This Deep Dive is based on years of standards contributions and advanced technical training delivered to chipset companies at the forefront of Wi-Fi development. We’ve also been collecting traces on multiple links to bring you hands-on demonstrations.
Topics include:
- MLO association
- How to sniff MLO traffic
- MLO traffic on multiple links (pcaps)
- MLO capabilities of real-life devices and their implications
- Throughput and latency measurements under various conditions
- EMLSR and its practical impact on performance
- Preamble puncturing and its effects
We’ll wrap up by looking ahead to finalized technologies for Wi-Fi 8 — and how they could shape the future of wireless.
